gothic israel

This project looks at derelict and consumerist architecture and infrastructure in Israel and searches for traces of politics in the landscape. It merely came out of my enduring sensitivity to modern commercial vulgarity and fading industrial design during the five years I stayed in the region. I was then constantly wondering at how my perception of this land and society was in fact affected by media representations of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and by my own aesthetical and cultural European background. With such a lens in my mind, I could not disregard all these common signs and symptoms attesting of the dominance of ideology in this part of the world.
